Grief and Loss

Journey to reconciling what was with what is.

Most of us have been taught how to acquire, not how to lose. The way that we grieve today is the way that we observed it when we were younger from our parents, friends and society.

How to manage our emotions around loss leaves many of us trying to guess the path we should take. This path can feel overwhelming, uncertain, and lonely. You may be surprised at some emotions you have that don’t fit your idea of what grief looks like. You may not have the same interest or passion in life as before. Or be unsure of who you are or where you belong in this new world. No wonder it can be strange, confusing and painful.

I believe you have the emotional resilience to grieve in a healthy way. My approach to grief therapy is to walk alongside you with the needed guidance, encouragement and support to manage your way during a difficult season.

I see the goal as reconciling your life that was to the life you are in today.

Courage is often overlooked and underrated. We all have moments every day that require being courageous and brave. Most of the time, we do not give the credit to ourselves for these acts of courage or bravery because we don't think the action is “big enough.” Starting a new day with the absence of the life you knew is a brave action.

Grief and loss is not limited to death. I can help with:

  • Loss of a partner, parent, friend, pet

  • Divorce and breakups

  • Life transitions (Loss of a job, dream, or how you envisioned your future)

  • Chronic illness (loss of independence)

  • Shift of identity/roles through marriage, birth of a child, or empty nest
